  • Interact with members of the General Assembly on key issues affecting long term care.
  • Learn about changing public perception of long term care through a national public education and communications campaign.
  • Hear an update on Medicaid issues impacting long term care providers, the expansion of care coordination efforts for Medicaid recipients, and plans for implementing three geographic pilots for blended Medicare/Medicaid payment.
  • Meet the winners of the Quality Challenge:  Recognition of member facilities whose journeys led to performance excellence.
  • Explore Telemedicine as an opportunity to enhance care and reduce costs.
  • Expand knowledge about the use of alternatives to antipsychotic medications to manage difficult behaviors in residents suffering from dementia.
  • Pursue the use of nurse practitioners to augment the care of residents.
  • Identify how to succeed in today’s competitive environment.

VHCA members should take advantage of the opportunity to meet with their legislators during a visit to the General Assembly on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. and at the evening legislative reception Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30.  We urge members to make appointments now to meet with their Delegate and Senator.  Face-to-face meetings are one of the most effective options for delivering our message about the critical need for adequate funding for long term care.  Transportation will be provided to and from the Capitol.
