VHCA This Week

The Virginia Health Care Association’s (VHCA) advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.  

We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

  • 9/14—Met with Del. John O’Bannon (R-Henrico) and Majority Leader Del. Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) on VHCA’s legislative priorities.
  • 9/14—Participated in a conference call hosted by ASHCAE on payment reform and the proposed rule on the requirements for participation in Medicare.
  • 9/14—Participated in the monthly Commonwealth Coordinated Care (CCC) program conference call for providers.
  • 9/14—Attended a political fundraiser for Sen. Janet Howell (D-Reston).
  • 9/15—Met with Sen. Janet Howell to discuss VHCA’s priorities.
  • 9/15—Attended the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) Board meeting.
  • 9/15—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Bobby Orrock (R-Caroline County).
  • 9/16—Attended a political fundraiser for Del. Tim Hugo (R-Centreville).
  • 9/16—Attended one of the Center for Health Innovation’s regional accountable care communities meetings.
  • 9/16—Attended a forum for the Republican candidates for the House of Delegates in the November elections.
  • 9/17—Attended political fundraisers for Del. Dickie Bell (R-Staunton) and Sen. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth).
  • 9/17—Hosted a meeting of the Nursing Facility Advisory Committee.
