VHCA This Week

The Virginia Health Care Association’s (VHCA) advocacy work on behalf of long term care providers is a year-round job.  While the General Assembly session may get most of the attention, the meetings and outreach we conduct with legislators, agency officials, and other stakeholders beyond session can have lasting impact on our ability to be effective advocates.
We’ll be using this space to highlight VHCA staff and leadership’s participation in meetings and events that are critical to the profession.  Take a look at our activities this week:

  • 8/10 - Met with representatives of Sen. Mark Warner about the Senate Finance Committee’s working group exploring solutions to improve outcomes for Medicare patients requiring chronic care.
  • 8/11 - Participated in a national conference call hosted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) about the proposed rule for Medicare requirements of participation for long term care facilities.
  • 8/12 - Met with House Majority Leader Del. Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights) to discuss VHCA’s legislative priorities.
  • 8/13 - Hosted a meeting of the VHCA Health Planning Committee.
  • 8/14 - VHCA Board of Directors to meet in Richmond for its quarterly meeting.
