REGISTRATION AVAILABLE for the 45-Hour Introduction to Activity Management Program

Introduction to Activity Management (1st Half of MEPAP Part I) is scheduled for June 22 – 26 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Richmond – Midlothian.  “Introduction to Activity Management” is a five-day, 45-hour course sponsored solely by the Virginia Health Care Association. The course will provide comprehensive training in documentation and programming and is designed to specifically prepare activity personnel to work in settings primarily serving persons 55 years and older. These settings may include nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, sub-acute, specialized care or adult day services. The course meets all federal OBRA and state regulatory requirements for Virginia nursing facility activity professionals.

This program has been approved by the Division of Licensing Programs of the Virginia Department of Social Services as a training program in adult group activities and in recognizing and assessing the activity needs of residents and meets the requirements of 22 VAC 40-72-1100 G 5 of the Standards for Licensed Assisted Living Facilities. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate confirming that they meet the required qualifications to work in activities in long term care facilities.

This 45-hour course is in the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) approved format of the Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) in order to assist participants who wish to pursue their national activity credential. This is in response to requests from individuals who are seeking national certification. Participants who attend the entire program will receive credit towards the NCCAP Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) course.
