Federal and State Leaders Visit Virginia’s Nursing Facilities

VHCA members always welcome the opportunity to host state and federal leaders in their facilities.  Below is a list of recent visits that have taken place.  If your facility has had a member of Congress or the General Assembly visit and would like it highlighted in the CareConnection, please send information to Kathy Robertson.  Also, if you are willing to host state and federal leaders, please contact VHCA and we are happy to help you arrange it.

On October 24, Congressman-elect Don Beyer visited Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He is reentering public service, so it was his first visit to a nursing facility in years.  Thanks to Bob DeMaria, Administrator and his staff for hosting the Congressman-elect.

On October 28, United States Senator Tim Kaine visited Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, Virginia. Senator Kaine spent over an hour providing remarks, answering questions and visiting with residents and staff.  Thanks to Jim Musgrave, CEO and Derrick Kendall, Chief Operations Officer and their staff for hosting Senator Kaine.

On November 6, Virginia State Senator Tom Garrett visited Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation in Amherst, Virginia.  Senator Garrett was very generous with his time and enjoyed speaking at length with Robert Sales, a veteran of World War II who was a part of the D-Day invasion at Normandy.  Thanks to Joe Lemon, Administrator for organizing the visit.
