Values Based Leadership, presented by Scott Moore with Luck Companies will be the keynote session on Tuesday.  This session will focus on the extraordinary potential that exists in all leaders, the impact that leaders can have on others by igniting the potential of all individuals and the notion that true leadership begins within.  Scott will explain that Values Based Leadership is a choice, not a title that leaders make to live a life of purpose, on purpose, and to positively impact the lives of those around them.

Continuing on Tuesday, Andy Edeburn, VP of Continuum Strategies with Health Dimensions Group, will present a session on national trends around managed care and offer guidance on how to keep ahead.

Wednesday morning of the conference will begin with Operational Impact of the Transition to Price-Based Payment.  This session will focus on the major differences between the previous Cost-Based Medicaid system and the newly implemented Price-Based Payment system.  Presenters will review operational opportunities and challenges the new system offers facility providers in the coming years.

Also on Wednesday, Mike Cheek, Vice President, Medicaid & Long Term Care Policy with American Health Care Association, will present AHCA Policy Initiatives & the Status of Managed Care Across the Nation.  Mike will lead the conversation in reviewing the Medicare-Medicaid Plans (MMPs) across the country to help decipher the many issues involved in the transition to managed care, policy initiatives currently being considered by the American Health Care Association and the future delivery of long term care.

Other programs on Wednesday include:

  • Delirium, Depression & Dementia: Symptoms & Treatment in Older Adults in Long Term Care presented by Lindsey Slaughter, PsyD with Piedmont Geriatric Hospital
  • Stephanie Morrison with PharMerica will review strategies to reduce hospital readmissions for heart failure
  • Monica McCarroll from the Williams Mullen Law firm will discuss legal issues related to the use of social media

  • AHCA Quality Awards

Concluding the conference on Thursday, hear from the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), representatives from each of the three Medicare Medicaid Plans (MMPs), and from VHCA leadership about the roll-out of the Commonwealth Coordinated Care (CCC) program.   Commonwealth Coordinated Care Update:  Status of the Rollout, Lessons Learned, Best Practices and Issues Outstanding will focus on practical guidance on issues surrounding care coordination between the MMPs and the facilities, ancillary provider participation, service authorization, and claims submission and processing/payment.  Learn from the initial months of experience in the Tidewater area to get a perspective on these and other implementation issues as the CCC program rolls out to the remaining demonstration regions.

This year’s conference will offer a total of 11.5 hours of continuing education.  REGISTER ONLINE TODAY.
