VHCA President to Retire

Steve Morrisette, VHCA President and CEO, has announced his plan to retire by the end of 2014.  Morrisette has served as VHCA President since October 1, 1995.  During his tenure he established The Commonwealth Long Term Care Foundation. The Foundation has provided almost $500,000 in nursing scholarships since 1997 to deserving nurses in VHCA member facilities.  He also led the Virginia Health Care Services Corporation to partner in the establishment of National Healthcare Services Inc., a group purchasing organization specializing in products and services for long term care facilities.  VHCA has enjoyed strong membership growth and success in legislative advocacy during Morrisette’s almost 19 years with VHCA.

“It has been my privilege to serve as VHCA President and CEO.  I have been blessed to work with a great staff that really cares about our members and the residents they serve.  Together, I think we have made a positive difference for the long term care profession in Virginia.”

The VHCA Board of Directors will initiate a search process in the next few weeks to recruit Morrisette’s successor.
