Genworth Report Finds Assisted Living Rates Rise Slightly

The Genworth 2014 Cost of Care Survey reports that assisted living’s national monthly median rate is $3,500 or $42,000 annually for a private one-bedroom.  Survey responses were collected from more than 14,800 long term care providers nationwide.  The report includes rates, reported by state, for home care, adult day health care, nursing centers and assisted living communities.  Assisted living rates increased 1.45 percent compared to 2013 rates, and grew 4.29 percent in five years. According to the survey, the District of Columbia is the most expensive at $82,674 annually. Georgia and Missouri have the lowest annual rates at $30,000. The entire report is available here.
