2013 Winter Legislative Conference

Mark your calendar for the 2013 Winter Legislative Conference scheduled for February 12 & 13 at the Omni Richmond Hotel.   Time has been set aside on Tuesday morning to visit legislators to make our voices heard within the political and policy arena. We are strongly encouraging members to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your legislators during a visit to the General Assembly and at the evening legislative reception. Make appointments now to meet with your Delegate and Senator.  Face-to-face meetings are one of the most effective options for delivering our message about the critical need for adequate funding for long term care.

In addition to the opportunity to interact with members of the General Assembly on key issues affecting long term care, attendees will hear about:

  • Virginia’s Proposed Dual Demonstration;
  • Ways to gain a competitive edge by mining Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) with Outcomes Reporting;
  •  Programs of the Office of Licensure & Certification and Department of Aging & Rehabilitative Services affecting long term care;  and
  • “Care Transitions” and community partnerships to improve communication among stakeholders in the continuum of care to reduce avoidable hospitalizations.
Online registration is now available online.  This year’s conference will offer a total of nine hours of continuing education.  More information coming soon.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Omni Richmond Hotel for $147.00 single or double (plus tax).  Reserve your hotel room here or by calling the hotel directly at 804.344.7000 or toll free at 800.843.6664.  Reservation deadline is Friday, January 25, 2013.  Please remember to identify yourself as a VHCA conference participant.
