Compliance Webinar Part II: New Year’s Resolution – Ensure that Your Program is Effective and Meeting the Government’s Expectations

Is a compliance program on your list of New Year’s resolutions?  On March 23, 2013, all nursing facilities who participate in Medicare or Medicaid are required to have an effective compliance program in place.  A notebook of policies sitting on a shelf isn’t going to cut it.  The compliance program must be a living, breathing part of the organization.  The compliance program must be embedded in the organizations culture and visually demonstrated throughout the facility’s day to day operations.  Not only will the government be examining your compliance program as a condition of participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, but a robust compliance program will help reduce the amount of governmental scrutiny your facility will face with the government’s increasing enforcement initiatives and reimbursement audits.

VHCA members are invited to join attorneys from Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle, P.C. for a one-hour no-charge webinar on Wednesday, January 16th at 2:00 PM.  This is Part II of a two-part compliance series.  The webinar is available at no charge but registration is required.  Part I of the series was presented in December and is available for viewing in archive format.

This (1hr) webinar will dig deeper into the life of a compliance program addressing the following:

  • What risks should we be prepared to address?
  • How do we identify, prioritize and implement a process to address our particular risk areas?
  • How much auditing is necessary and what methodology should we use?
  • How do we know if our plans of correction are sufficient?
  • How do we monitor and document the effectiveness of our compliance program?

Nursing facilities no longer have an option.  2013 is the year to commit to a compliance program.  To register for Part II, please click here.
