We’re proud and excited to provide information about this year’s Annual Convention & Trade Show scheduled for October 1 - 4, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Hampton Roads - Hotel, Spa and Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia.

American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living’s President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Parkinson, this year’s Convention keynote speaker, will discuss the opportunities and challenges confronting the long term and post-acute care profession.  As a former Governor of Kansas and a nursing facility operator, Governor Parkinson has unique insight into the future of long term care and how quality and payment will be closely tied together as we move to more coordinated models of care.  The relationship with government programs and other provider groups will be critical to the success of long term care providers.  In the coming years and decades, skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities have the ability to demonstrate the value and quality of care the sector provides to millions of Americans.  Governor Parkinson will explain how providers and caregivers can help shape this future and “win.”

Health care in the United States is changing – structure, funding and delivery of how we obtain health care services is being challenged and redefined.  Health care professionals cannot afford to sit on the sidelines!  The 2012 Convention and Trade Show education sessions will help bring members up to date on vital issues impacting post-acute and long term care services.

Maximize your membership investment and experience by joining your colleagues at the 2012 VHCA/VCAL Convention and Trade Show at Embassy Suites Hampton Roads - Hotel, Spa & Convention Center.  Plan to join in the festivities including the Regirer Nurse Scholarship Golf Tournament, Annual Awards Banquet and Virginia’s largest long term care Trade Show.

New This Year - In response to suggestions from our members, we’re trying to save a few trees by not providing printed copies of education session handout materials.  All educational handouts will be available online to registered attendees only prior to the Convention.  Attendees will be able to download for viewing or printing the specific handouts they are interested in.  PDFs of handout materials can be easily viewed on tablets and laptop computers and can be saved for future reference.

In addition to supporting your profession and helping to maintain a strong and effective Association, your participation will be rewarded with new and enhanced knowledge, perspectives and understanding of the delivery of care to the residents we serve.

Full Convention registration is now available online. The convention brochure will be coming soon.
