Database Targets Survey Reports

ProPublica, a web-based news organization, has developed a searchable database the federal site NH Compare.  The government site was recently reintroduced and it now includes the “narrative” portion of survey reports (2567s) which are the surveyor’s comments about the deficiencies; this is what fuels ProPublica’s database and makes it keyword searchable. A fuller explanation of the database’s capabilities is on ProPublica’s website.  AHCA encourages facility operators to check what is reported about their facility(ies) on both NH Compare and ProPublica and advise CMS or ProPublica if information regarding your facility is outdated or incorrect. In the next few weeks, members can expect to see newspaper articles about the new search tool and how reporters are using it. We ask members to report any media contacts to the Virginia Health Care Association.
