2012 Convention & Trade Show Scheduled for October 1st - 4th

The Virginia Health Care Association/Virginia Center for Assisted Living will hold its Annual Convention & Trade Show at The Embassy Suites Hampton Roads - Hotel, Spa and Convention Center on October 1 - 4, 2012.

Health care in the United States is changing – structure, funding and delivery of how we obtain health care services is being challenged and redefined.  Health care professionals cannot afford to sit on the sidelines!  The 2012 Convention and Trade Show education sessions will help bring members up to date on vital issues impacting post-acute and long term care services.

Maximize your membership investment and experience by joining your colleagues at the 2012 VHCA/VCAL Convention and Trade Show at Embassy Suites Hampton Roads - Hotel, Spa & Convention Center.  Plan to join in the festivities including the Regirer Nurse Scholarship Golf Tournament, Annual Awards Banquet, and Virginia’s largest long term care Trade Show.

The theme for this year's VHCA Trade Show and Convention is Hats Off to Long Term Care.

NEW THIS YEAR - In response to suggestions from our members, we’re trying to save a few trees by not providing printed copies of education session handout materials.  All educational handouts will be available online only to registered attendees prior to the Convention.  Attendees will be able to download for viewing or printing the specific handouts they are interested in.  PDFs of handout materials can be easily viewed on tablets and laptop computers and can be saved for future reference.

In addition to supporting your profession and helping to maintain a strong and effective Association, your participation will be rewarded with new and enhanced knowledge, perspectives and understanding of the delivery of care to the residents we serve.

Education session topics will include:

  • How We Win: AHCA’s President, Mark Parkinson, provides Insight into the Future of Long Term Care
  • The Joplin Experience & Beyond: the Impact of Catastrophic Regional Disasters
  • Navigating RAC Audits: Challenges and Solutions for LTC Providers
  • Best Practices to Reduce Inappropriate Use of Antipsychotic Drugs in LTC Residents
  • The Magic of Frontline Engagement
  • Recent Developments in Employment Law
  • It Doesn’t Take a Hat Trick to Prevent Infections in LTC
