Nursing Compare Updates Now Online

On Thursday, July 19th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a redesigned Nursing Home Compare website with significant changes designed to increase transparency and make more information available to the public.

Among changes to the Nursing Home Compare website are the following:

  • Updated data for Quality Measures based on the MDS 3.0 including two new measures that report a nursing home’s use of antipsychotic medications;
  • Five-Star rating system modified to incorporate new quality measures in the areas of: pressure ulcers; falls; urinary tract infections; catheters; physical restraints; and, help with daily activities.
  • Detailed Inspection Reports (Form CMS-2567);
  • Ownership information (names of individuals and organizations with ownership or managerial control of nursing homes); and
  • Additional staffing data with information on Physical Therapist staffing hours per resident day.
