VHQC Offers Free Three-part Webinar Series on Critical Healthcare Decisions: Important Conversations

Planning ahead for advanced health care is challenging.  Too often, the lack of discussions or decisions about end-of-life care can impact care outcomes, including unnecessary hospitalizations.  To provide the best individualized care and to ensure that a person's wishes are considered and honored, providers are increasingly engaged in conversations about these important decisions.

Beginning April 17, VHQC will launch a three-part webinar series emphasizing conversations to help patients make important, advanced healthcare decisions.

The webinars will cover a wide range of topics, including:  Supporting patients with making healthcare decisions:

  •   Understanding the benefits of palliative care and hospice
  •   Communicating bad news to patients
  •   Navigating legal and ethical issues
  •   Encouraging caregivers and families to have conversations about planning for health care in advance
This FREE webinar series is open to all providers and community partners, including hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and nurses (and interested care team members). Registration is required in order to receive participation information and webinar materials.

Each webinar will be presented by Judy Lentz, RN, MSN, NHA - CEO, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, and will be held from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, April 17: Part I - It's All About the Conversations
  • Thursday, May 3: Part II - How to Approach the Conversation
  • Tuesday, May 22: Part III - Handling Conversations at the End Stage
