VASHRM Offering Risk Management Program in April

The Virginia Chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (VASHRM) has scheduled an education program, Long Shot and Risk Management, for Thursday & Friday, April 26 - 27 at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the new provisions of Va. Code § 8.01-581.17 and how to effectively apply them to enhance the quality assurance, risk management, peer review and credentialing processes.
  • Explain how Virginia Guardianship and Conservatorship Statutes relate for patients in the hospital setting and how the Statutes can be applied to benefit the patient and the hospital.
  • Understand Workplace Violence: Preparing, Preventing, Assessing, and Closing the Loop.
  • Master best practices on breach preparedness and breach response methodologies.
  • Provide an overview of recent legislative activity affecting healthcare providers and organizations.
  • Prepare for unexpected natural disasters that health care organizations face, i.e. hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and measures to take in order to prepare and respond effectively.
  • Discuss the basics of locomotion and the effects of age-related gait adaptation, musculoskeletal and sensory degradation on the initiation, detection and recovery processes of slip and fall accidents.
  • Discuss the Virginia Department of Health’s mission of effective response and preparedness to emergencies impacting public health through preparation, collaboration, education and rapid intervention.
