Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Webinar on Healthcare-Associated Infections Scheduled for March 21

VDH’s Healthcare-Associated Infections Program invites members to register for a lunchtime webinar on How to Use the Successful Strategies for the Prevention of Urinary Tract Infections in Long-Term Care Toolkit scheduled for Wednesday, March 21st from 12 noon – 1:00 pm.

The program will be presented by Carol Jamerson, Nurse Epidemiologist with the Virginia Department of Health, Judy Brown, Long Term Care Consultant and Adriana Agnew, Director of Quality Management and Infection Preventionist, Fairfax Nursing Center


  • Provide a brief overview of the VDH/Virginia Health Care Association urinary tract infection prevention collaborative and the development of the UTI toolkit
  • Go through the toolkit components, including regulatory guidance, definitions, surveillance and monitoring tools, sample policies, education, antibiotic use, and presentations from a panel of experts
  • Hear one facility’s story about how its staff have been able to use the toolkit to improve UTI surveillance and prevention
