Train the Trainer for Instructors of ALF Registered Medication Aides Program Scheduled for May 16

Train the Trainer for ALF Instructors of Registered Medication Aides is scheduled May 16 in the VHCA/VCAL office.  The program is a one-day, six-hour workshop designed for instructors of registered medication aides in assisted living facilities (ALF).  Participants will observe, practice, and critique a variety of instructional strategies.

As of August 1, 2009, Virginia’s laws and regulations require medication aides working in assisted living facilities be registered with the Virginia Board of Nursing.  All instructors of the approved Medication Aide Training Programs must hold current licenses as Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses or Pharmacists and must complete a Train the Trainer course for Medication Aide Training.  The VHCA/VCAL’s Train the Trainer program is designed to provide the requisite information on teaching adult learners and will qualify RNs, LPNs and Pharmacists to teach the Medication Aide program for Registered Medication Aides in assisted living facilities.

Who should attend?  All Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Pharmacists responsible for teaching the training program for Registered Medication Aides in assisted living facilities.

More information and online registration can be found on the VHCA website.
