The successful long term care facility must develop an aggressive quality improvement program while maintaining systems that include ongoing monitoring and effective action planning in response to identified variances, risks and deficient practices.

This one-day program, Taking Control of Your Outcomes: Transitioning from a Culture of Regulatory Compliance to a Culture of Quality Improvement, approved by NAB for both nursing home and assisted living administrators, defines quality assurance versus quality improvement.  Participants will learn how to convert resources and time to being more proactive and less reactive.  Mary Chiles, RN, RAC-CT, President of Chiles Healthcare Consulting, Sheila McLean, LNHA, CPHQ, Area Manager with Virginia Health Quality Center (VHQC) and Nancy Newman, RN JD, RAC-CT, LTC Consultant with Chiles Healthcare Consulting will provide an overview of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, to assess the quality of care provided to their residents/patients and to improve the care they provide.

Attendees will leave the program empowered with the information and tools to implement a proactive approach to maximizing the use of existing resources while instituting systems to achieve quality improvement.  Participants will leave the conference fortified with an understanding of how to shift from a reactive response to a proactive response to improve quality of care and quality of life for residents.
