2014 Winter Legislative Conference

The times truly are a-changin'.  Representing a sea change for Virginia’s nursing facilities, 2014 will usher in a transition to managed care for the majority of our members.

Mark your calendar for the 2014 Winter Legislative Conference scheduled for February 18 & 19 at the Omni Richmond Hotel.  Time has been set aside on Tuesday morning to visit legislators to make our voices heard within the political and policy arena. We are strongly encouraging members to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your legislators during a visit to the General Assembly and at the evening legislative reception. Make appointments now to meet with your Delegate and Senator.  Face-to-face meetings are one of the most effective options for delivering our message about the critical need for adequate funding for long term care.

In addition to the opportunity to interact with members of the General Assembly on key issues affecting long term care, attendees will:

  • Receive a briefing on legislative actions in the 2014 General Assembly and understand the consequences of Budget decisions on Virginia’s Medicaid funding.
  • Hear about what is happening in Congress and AHCA’s efforts to influence Congressional decisions.
  • Learn about the Arizona Model of Managed Care and lessons learned from Arizona’s experience.
  • Receive an update on Medicaid Reform from Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources.
  • Prepare for implementation of Virginia’s Dual Demonstration Program with presentations from representatives of the three MCOs about their plans for care coordination in facilities.
  • Identify strategies for succeeding in today’s post-acute environment.

Registration is available online. More information coming soon.
