Train the Trainer for Nurse Aide Education Programs Scheduled for February 4th & 5th

Train the Trainer for Nurse Aide Education Programs, a two-day, 12-hour workshop, has been scheduled for February 4th & 5th at the VHCA Office.  This workshop is designed to provide program coordinators, primary instructors and in-service staff of nurse aide education programs with program planning skills such as writing measurable learning objectives, organizing curriculum, developing lesson plans, and evaluating learning. 

Who Should Attend?  All persons responsible for long term care nursing staff in-service and nurse aide training, including In-Service Directors and Coordinators, Directors of Nursing Service and Assistants, and Nursing Instructors.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss characteristics of the adult learner.
  • Identify principles and techniques of training needs assessment.
  • Identify responsibilities of the trainer of nursing assistants.
  • Write learning objectives.
  • Describe a logical organizational plan for teaching.
  • Identify factors conducive to adult learning.
  • Select teaching methods and media.
  • List advantages/disadvantages of selected methods of classroom evaluation.
  • Distinguish between effective and ineffective evaluation techniques.
  • Prepare and present an instructional component.
